Gilles Villeneuve – a Canadian racing driver born in 1950 – started his racing career early in snowmobile racing in Canada; in 1977 he was offered to drive in Formula One. A year later he was asked to join the Ferrari team. As he had later remarked: "If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula One, my third to drive for Ferrari..." His races promised a bright career, and he quickly became a favourite among Formula One fans.
Gilles Villeneuve – a winner of only 6 Grand Prix, and without a single championship title to his name in his short career. The horrific accident in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix in 1982 that took his life has left a void in all of our hearts. His death was untimely, but his legacy lives on forever.
